shooting brakes, playboy playmates and roxy music
Here on this sloping street in the Kruununhaka neighborhood of Helsinki we have the rakish Volvo 1800ES. It was only made for two years but stands as a fine example of a “shooting brake”, originally an English term for a vehicle that carried a shooting party and their gear. Now it basically means a pairing of a coupe and a wagon. Below we have a pink 1800ES given to the January 1972 Playboy Playmate of the Month, Merilyn Cole. You may recognize her from the cover of Roxy Music’s Stranded. Don’t you want her in your shooting party?
